REPORTS: Newcastle ‘keen’ to make Zidane new manager

In today’s episode of ludicrous news, Defensa Central are reporting that Newcastle are prepared to “double” Zinedine Zidane’s salary in order to lure him to the club this summer.

The Real Madrid has no shortage of admirers – from his time a player to his successes with Los Blancos as a manager, he’s a man in demand. Juventus, the French national team and now Newcastle are all reportedly keen on bringing in Zizou to manage their team.

According to Defensa Central, Zidane is very popular in Saudi Arabia and the prospective new Saudi Arabian owners have made him their top target to take over from Steve Bruce this summer.

“They believe, in Saudi Arabia, that Zizou is “the best technician in the world” and they intend him to lead the future project of the magpies,” read the report.

Interestingly, the report also says that “despite the issue of piracy, there will be a sale in the Premier League”. They say the PIF are so keen to bring Zidane in to lead their new project, they’re even willing to double his already very lucrative contract.

Newcastle have been linked with a few different managers since the takeover speculation arose. The likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Rafael Benitez have been mentioned, with Massimiliano Allegri’s name having also been thrown in the ring.

Of all of the names mentioned, this one is the stupidest. I can believe that we’re interested in Pochettino and I can see why we would want to bring Benitez back to the club. The thought of us poaching REAL MADRID’s manager though – that’s a step too far towards cloud cuckoo-land.
