Newcastle ‘preparing a bid’ for Juventus midfielder

According to Calcio Mercato, Newcastle are “preparing a bid” for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The French star only joined Juventus last summer but, having struggled to find much game time under Maurizio Sarri, has set his Mother/agent the challenge to find him a route out of Turin.

The report in Calcio Mercato states that “the Premier League is in sight” due to the fact that it’s the only league where he may be able to find a wage similar to the one he earns at Juventus.

Interestingly, the report even went as far to say that Newcastle have offered Rabiot a contract which “far exceeds” that of the one he is currently bound to at Juventus. They say that the move is dependent on the PIF’s takeover of Newcastle being finalised and the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement – although Newcastle are preparing a bid.

The fee that Newcastle would have to pay for the player is said to be somewhere between 20 and 30 million euros – which seems fair for a 25-year-old with a lot of talent and a lucrative contract that’s still fairly fresh.

His first and possibly only season in Italy hasn’t exactly been amazing. He’s managed 24 appearances in all competitions, failing to get any goals or assists. He has managed to get himself a red card. With a 6.70 average match rating, he currently ranks 17th in the Juventus squad with four of the players ahead of him being fellow central midfielders.

Also, Newcastle aren’t the only team interested too. Calcio Mercato say that Everton want to bring him to Merseyside while other reports say that Manchester United are also interested.

He’d certainly add some quality to the Newcastle midfield but he’s had some well documented issues with his behavior and attitude throughout his career so far. That’s something the recruitment team will have to make a decision on if, and that is a very big IF, this report from Calcio Mercato is true.
