Newcastle ‘interested’ in signing £44m rated striker Milik

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Newcastle United are interesting in making a summer move for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.

Newcastle have already been linked with a tonne of players this summer – most of which are completely unrealistic or names that media sources have plucked from the air. There’s nothing to say this one is any different in all fairness, but here we are anyway.

The Polish striker has 12 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions this season and would present a good striking option for any side in Europe.

Milik would be a very strong addition to the squad and would allow Joelinton to play in his more natural slightly deeper position or even off the wing.

Reportedly, Napoli value the striker at somewhere in the region of £44m, which would break the £40m transfer record set for signing Joelinton last summer.

Milik has been previously linked with a move to Spurs over the last few weeks which, on face value, would be a good move for him.

With a fit Harry Kane there though, it seems as though he would likely either be used out of position or just as a back-up to the England skipper.

So if there was a reality wherein he had the choice between Newcastle and Spurs, we might be boosted by the fact we could offer more regular game-time in his favoured number nine role.

At 26-years-old, Milik is entering the prime of his career and could be a serious addition to the squad should Newcastle pull off a deal.

However, the likelihood is that this is merely newspaper speculation which has come from his agent in order to boost interest in the player and force his pricetag to grow.

Pinch of salt, as ever.
