Joelinton scores again as Magpies beat Boro 3-2 in training ground friendly

Newcastle United came from behind to beat Middlesbrough thanks to a late winner from Joelinton in a training ground friendly today.

United are preparing for the season to get back underway with our first game against Sheffield United just a couple of weeks away.

The club played an inter-club friendly at St James’ Park last week – interestingly, Joelinton also scored in that. He seems to have found a little nose for goal in these friendlies.

Today, the boys were 2-0 down thanks to goals from George Saville and Britt Assombalonga but Yoshinori Muto and Miguel Almiron both found the net to draw Newcastle level.

That set the scene for Joelinton to win it for the Magpies late on.

It may be irrelevant in the grand scheme of things but friendly or not, it’s always good for the boys to get that winning feeling pumping through their veins once more.

The same goes for Joelinton – it may just be a friendly but goals for gold-dust to a striker, especially for confidence levels.

A couple of goals in a couple of friendlies for him will surely give him a little bit of a confidence boost before the season gets going on again.
