Newcastle beat Hull in final pre-resumption friendly

Newcastle United picked up a 2-0 win over Hull City in their final friendly before the season gets back underway next week.

Goals from Florian Lejuene and Allan Saint-Maximin were enough for Steve Bruce’s side to give the team their second win in the last few days following last weeks 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough.

Steve Bruce’s team took the lead in the first half when Lejeune rose highest to nod home from a Jonjo Shelvey crossed free-kick.

Just before the break, Saint-Maximin doubled Newcastle’s lead when the ball came to him in the area, he jinked past a defender and side-footed the ball past George Long in the Tigers goal.

Not too long to go until the Magpies are back in action properly, with the visit of Sheffield United scheduled next Sunday at 2pm BST.
